Despite eerie narrative parallels with King Kong, the most curious thing about Curious George is how gentle it is.. The film conceals as much as it reveals, and its beauty is that it pretends to do nothing else. It embraces a mystery and protects it, and it’s thrilling to behold.. It's good old-fashioned family entertainment.. Director Matthew O'Callaghan and screenwriter Ken Kaufman haven't tried to create a film that's hip, just one that's funny and sweet, and in that sense they've succeeded....
